Today is another cold winter day with ice crystals in the full ditches and in the many puddles. The roofs, lawns, and crops are covered in a heavy frost this morning. My grandson and I discussed the difference between snow and frost as we waited in the drop off line at school. He was not convinced that there is a difference-snow being formed in the air and frost on the surface of things. Being a second grader he has strong opinions!
As I think about LSM classes, they remind me of continuing education classes that many professionals and non-professionals are required to take to keep up their certifications. Most people have strong opinions about the worth or worthlessness of continuing education classes. Having taken many such classes, I seldom took one that I did not gain several ideas for how to do things better, how not to do things, or was inspired by new ideas to try. The same is true for LSM classes whether I have taken the class or just been present to assist with the mechanics of the class as a Co-Director.
NO ONE is required to take a LSM class to serve. Serving is a way of life for many folks and they never even think about the fact that they are serving. LSM classes offer opportunities for spiritual growth, to gain helpful knowledge for serving, and to develop relationships with like-minded servants of Jesus Christ.
Taking LSM classes may lead to being a Certified Lay Servant or Certified Lay Speaker if you would like.
** Becoming a Certified Lay Servant requires you to take the Basic class and one advanced class.
** Becoming a Certified Lay Speaker requires that you be a Certified Lay Servant-take six additional required advanced classes, deliver a lay message that is evaluated, have a background check, and interview with the District LSM Board and be approved by Conference LSM Board of Directors.
Whether or not you have strong opinions about continuing education, I invite you to take a LSM class!
Registration is open until February 2nd for the LSM Basic Course.
Registrations that opened this week:
