Important Note: The term “Lay Speaking Ministries” has changed to “Lay Servant Ministries” – effective January 1, 2013. The reason is that the term “Lay Speaking Ministries” implies that a Lay Speaker preaches – and while that is one of the options for a Lay Speaker to serve, there are many other “non-preaching” opportunities for “Lay Speakers” to serve. In the past, some leaders have avoided attending the lay speaking training because they do not want to preach. It is hoped that the new name will eliminate that issue – and also more accurately reflect the role. Our district will continue to periodically offer preaching related training, but we will also be intentionally offering more non-preaching related training.
