“Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God.” 2 Corinthians 9:13
As pulled out of the driveway, I noticed white feathers strewn across on the grass along the sides of the road. Some feathers were small and fluffy while others were large. The trucks loaded with turkeys from a neighbor’s farm had left a definite trail.
Often people do things for “a feather in their cap” but most folks do not like feathers littering their lawns or even by the road in front of their homes. As I continued to the grocery store, there was a white feather trail all the way to the bridge.
For some reason, the white feathers made me think of the trail we leave as we travel through life. Sometimes we do small or large things to please ourselves, other times we do small or large things for others and to share the love of Christ. Those white feathers reminded me of the small or large acts of kindness and goodness that we do for others, probably because of a devotion that I had read earlier that day.
“God’s wisdom reminds us that when we demonstrate God’s love through our actions, ‘others will praise God.’ Service isn’t about self-gratification but showing others the extent of God’s love and the miraculous ways He works through those who are called by His name.”
