“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
This is a verse I believe that we all need to claim. We need to be intentional about listening for God’s plan. NOT OUR PLAN. I do realize how hard this is to do sometimes, but oh, how rewarding when we truly listen.
Let’s not make plans without including God in those plans. Prayer should be the beginning of any project we plan to undertake. We need to pray for wisdom, for guidance, and then LISTEN. Listen for that still, small voice that has plans for us to prosper.
Isn’t it an awesome feeling to know we have a God that wants us to prosper? Remember, prosper doesn’t necessarily mean we gain more wealth or status. Prosper can mean we gain new souls for God, that we introduce others to Jesus, that others learn what a joy it can be to follow our Christ. We can prosper in our pursuit to be fishers of men.
We must stay vigilant and be prepared to do God’s work. We must be willing to go that extra mile. I once heard —– “Go that extra mile, it is never crowded.” Let’s go that extra mile in serving as the hands and feet of Christ on this earth. What a privilege to pass on that love that passeth all understanding. To let others know how much our God loves everyone, has a plan for everyone, and wants to give hope to the entire world.
I know that we sometimes feel so ill equipped to carry God’s message to the world. Believe me, you are not alone. There are so many ways to share the message. A great way to have an enjoyable day, be with new and old friends, and learn about gifts we have been given and how we can use them is to attend one of the classes offered by the Lay Servant Ministries.
I challenge each of us to claim the hope we are offered and to pass it on to others.
Blessings,
Jackie
