– Kim R. Smith, District Lay Leader
There is something so renewing about breaking a routine once in a while! For several weeks I was blessed to visit two separate churches for Sunday morning worship. Two churches within several miles of each other, yet so unique in both their spiritual personalities and their styles of worship.
From each one, I jotted notes and had memories placed in my heart that I would bring home to my own church family. Lessons learned and inspiration given each week in different ways.
We can get stuck in our routines at times. When we are stuck, it’s hard to see ourselves as others might. Instead, we keep doing the same thing over and over and over again…waiting to either sink or have someone or something come and get us “un-stuck.”
If you need a little inspiration, visit your brothers and sisters in Christ across the Sound one Sunday morning. Pick a spot in this beautiful district and take a road trip for renewal. Step into a church located within a community unlike your own and open your heart to what they can teach you and how God uses them in different ways for His glory.
Our connection and the opportunities it brings for growth, exploration, and renewal is a beautiful gift. Imagine dozens of wrapped boxes, each unlike any other and located in a place you have only seen on a map. Unwrap a package now and then. Explore the community where God has placed it, meet the hearts who call it home, and prepare to be changed.
“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16)
