As I was reading devotions, the chimes from a neighboring church rang out “I heard the bells on Christmas Day, Their old familiar carols play, and wild and sweet the words repeat of peace on earth, good-will to men!” The words in the third verse “And in despair, I bowed my head there is no peace on earth I said for hate is strong and mocks the song of peace on earth, good-will to men.” This verse always makes me think… what can I do to create more peace and love? The answer is to share the love of Christ through words, deeds and actions.
A quote from Steve Maraboli -“Want to keep Christ in Christmas? Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, forgive the guilty, welcome the unwanted, care for the ill, love your enemies, and do unto others as you would have done unto you.”
Three times a day during the Advent season the chimes serenade our neighborhood with familiar carols and occasionally some not so familiar carols. Hopefully these carols are reminders to all who hear them to share the message of Christ as we become His hands and feet to the many people we encounter and to share JOY in the right order-Jesus, Others, and You!
Grace, peace and good will,
Roxie
