“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
This time of year gets me to thinking about the future. ‘What is in store for each of us and for our Methodist Church?’ has frequently come to mind.
Think about all those graduating from preschool, elementary school, middle school, high school, college, or trade school. They are all looking towards the future — with a little apprehension and a lot of hope. We need to make sure we are covering them in prayers that they are including God in their plans. That they are asking, “What would Jesus do?”
We just completed the North Carolina Conference Annual Conference. I hope that if you were not there in person that you watched via Facebook. I hope that you saw (amid our differences) that we look to the future with hope. Putting God in the center of all our decisions. Even though we had differences of opinions, we were civil to each other, we prayed for each other, and did the business of the church with God as the center.
Maybe this is a good time for each of us to think about our future. Pray about our future. Listen to God about our future. Let’s see how he will prosper us.
