The Thanksgiving table is a tradition that many churches carry out on the Sunday before the holiday. The table with its many colors and bounty remind us of the beauty of the world and the generosity of God, the Creator. Many people look forward to enjoying the table each year as our lay speaker said yesterday. The table also reminds us to be thankful and to say thanks to others and to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Saturday was the last Lay Servant Ministry class for our district for this year. As reflect back on the last year of six classes. There are many things to be thankful in this Lay Servant Ministry. Let me share a few-
Thankful for Zoom, even as much as we miss being together in person. Zoom has allowed 72 people across all 8 Districts-Sound, Fairway, Corridor, Heritage, Capital, Gateway, Beacon, and Harbor-to meet and learn together, even when snow was on ground for some of the participants. Zoom has allowed presenters from Greensboro, Raleigh, Wilmington, Havelock, Trenton, Arapahoe, and Bucklesberry to deliver classes during this time of Covid-19 pandemic.
Thankful that God has laid it on the hearts of more than 72 people to participate in the LSM classes. The Preaching class had a waiting list and inquiries from other conferences.
Thankful for the “new” folks who started their journey in Lay Servant Ministry and the folks who continued their journey and took classes to renew their certifications. Thankful and amazed for the many servant roles and actions these folks are performing in their churches and communities.
Thankful for the ladies at the Conference office who keep the records and do not complain with requests and questions. Thank you Trudy, Lou, and Amy who created the Zoom links and patiently helped us get everything right for the day early on Saturday mornings.
Thankful for Dr Christine Harman. Thankful for all the ways too numerous to mention that she has helped to improve LSM in our Conference. Thankful that she gets to retire BUT she will be greatly missed. Thank you, Christine!
Thankful and humbled to serve on this LSM team with Jackie Attaway and the District LSM Board as well as the Conference LSM Board. Thankful for the leadership of John Hall and Ann Davis.
There are always things to be thankful for in our lives and walk with our Lord! Find them and count your blessings and say thanks everyday!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Grace and peace,
Roxie
