Saying grace at meals is something many of us do at meals in restaurants, in our homes, and even in our cars before partaking of the food before us. Grace, Levi, and I ate breakfast in the car to fuel up for our trip to Tryon Palace on a hot August day.
After parking and saying grace, we noticed two crows sitting on a nearby power line and two smaller gray birds flying around them. One of the smaller birds kept flying close to the biggest crow… picking at his tail. We wondered why the small bird was pestering the larger one… then Levi said somebody threw out food. On the ground was a hash brown patty with 3 small grey birds and a small crow pecking away, enjoying breakfast. Guess the parent birds were keeping watch as their children enjoyed the meal.
26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them.
Matthew 6:26 NKJV
Examples of God’s love, grace, and keeping His promises maybe found each day as we about our tasks and time with relatives, friends, and even strangers– if we look for them and are open to His nudges. God stills provides, often in unexpected ways. Even with all the things going on in this world — God is still in control!
Prayer is our connection that builds and increases our relationship with God. There are numerous requests for prayer for loved ones who are sick. Prayer lists grow in our churches from Covid-19, other illness, and tragic circumstances that happen in life. Praying for others is an important ministry. God hears and answers prayers. How comfortable are you praying? Is there a right way to pray? Are there different kinds of prayer? What about praying in public (corporate prayer)?
On September 25, 2021 the Lay Servant Ministry advanced class Public Prayer will be offered by the Sound District from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm by Zoom. Celeste Cavanaugh, a Certified Lay Speaker, will teach the class. This class will help the participants grow in confidence and skill in public prayer and enrich their personal prayer life. Anyone is welcome to take this class! The class invites you to be bold when praying and use action words in your petitions to our Lord. Even if you do not plan to pray in public, this class will enhance your personal private prayer life. Registration Fee – $15.00
