Have you ever been asked a question, given an okay answer, and later thought… wish I had remembered and shared that… a much better answer?
The Sound District Lay Servant Ministry Board members shared examples of “Humanity still following Christ” by the people of our churches during the pandemic. Some of the examples shared were:
- partnering with an AME Zion church to build relationships and work on racial reconciliation,
- the paying of a delinquent water bill that led the family to the church,
- a congregation eagerly awaiting the arrival of a pastor from another country,
- generosity shown those during a time of need, and
- the questioning of a child about a closer relationship with Christ.
The group discerned classes to offer in the coming months. The plans are being finalized for at least three and possibly four classes during the fall and early winter. Please look for postings as soon as the details of dates are settled with presenters and locations. The LSM Board would like to hold in-person classes if they are able, however plans for Zoom classes will be made also with the recent upswing of COVID-19 cases.
Look for an announcement about a special activity being planned for early April.
Celeste Cavanaugh will share the details soon!
Meanwhile check out classes offered in other districts across the Conference:
Back to the question of thinking of a better answer later….. as I drove home after the meeting I thought of several ladies who had no children or grandchildren involved, yet gave generously of their time to help children of working parents with their school assignments at the church for the whole fall semester.
Finally, opportunities to serve others, share the love of Christ, and the message of salvation abound in our local churches and communities. Many are choosing to serve!
And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life….” John 6:35
Blessings,
