It’s safe to say that we all have some level of pandemic fatigue at this point. Trying to feel normal when nothing is normal, can be exhausting.
Maybe you have worked all week to prepare for outdoor worship. You have looked forward to being with each other, if even from a distance. Sunday morning arrives and it’s pouring rain.
This isn’t normal. It is however, our here and now. We can get through this by staying focused and encouraging each other along the way.
Each of us have gifts that can be used for his glory during this time. Help each other find new ways to serve and to stay connected.
Resist the urge to get sucked into the blame game. Things are the way they are because of a pandemic not any single person. However, the way we as Laity respond can either help or hinder our opportunity to grow in new ways.
Look around your congregation. Who needs encouragement this week? Who needs actual help in a way that you might be able to safely assist? Who needs reminding that their particular spiritual gift might be able to help your church family move through this challenging time?
Maybe the person who needs reminding is you? Never underestimate the gift given to you by God. Dorcas sewed coats and clothes for widows and the poor. Do you think she had any idea the impact on their lives as she served? She just used the gifts she had to serve the God she loved and the people… her neighbors… he created.
Use your gifts! Encourage others to use theirs! We are tired, yes. Our God has enough strength for us all and he has equipped us with what we need.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s Grace in its various forms.” [1 Peter 4:10 NIV]
