Breaking the Silence is a free community Mental Health Festival hosted by St. James UMC. The event is designed to connect individuals and families with mental health resources, education, support, and hope.
The festival will feature community resource booths, educational workshops led by professionals and community organizations, wellness activities, family-friendly activities, prayer opportunities, and spaces for conversation and connection. This festival is being held in September in honor of National Suicide Prevention Month, with the belief that Mental Health is Suicide Prevention.
This project aligns with St. James’ mission of being a welcoming church for all people and reflects our commitment to serving as the hands and feet of Jesus, serving our neighbors through compassion, education, and faith. Our goal is to create a safe and supportive environment where people can access resources, learn practical wellness tools, connect with others, and experience hope. We also hope to strengthen partnerships between churches, mental health providers, community organizations, and individuals throughout Eastern NC.
All ages are invited to this September 19 event from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.
