Hello Sound District Youth leaders and Volunteers!
I am excited to be partnering alongside of you in the Sound district! First let me introduce myself. I am Kudakwashe Kagura, I go by Kuda. I was born in Zimbabwe and my family moved to America in 2002. My home church, Cedar Cliff UMC, adopted my family when I was about 10 and introduced me to youth ministry at the local level, district level, and the conference level. From that time, I have had a passion for youth ministry and my philosophy (not my own words) is children and youth are not the church of the future, they are the church of today! So what I mean by that is that we as adults need to be active in including them because they are and can be leaders in the church if we make room for them.
We need them to know they are loved and cared for by God, the Church, and their adult leaders. I hope we can work together to make ministry in the Sound district fun, exciting, and meaningful for all youth. My hope is that I can meet with all of you pastors and youth leaders and volunteers to know how I can be the best district youth coordinator for you and your church. Those of you that work closely to youth thank you so much for all you do, you may not hear it but what you do really can change lives I know it did for me.
If you are willing to be part of my Sound District planning committee, please reach out to me! My hope is we can either do something together as one whole district soon or do something in a smaller subdistrict setting. I also hope we can build a network of youth workers to provide resources for one another and support one another. I know being a youth leader can be and is challenging but know that you are not alone and I am here for you if you need me! Again, thank you and I look forward to working with you all!!
